Technomancer News

11.17.08: As of the end of October 2008, the website for The Technomancer's Guild that was hosted here has been discontinued. I would like to thank all members of the Technomancers for their commitment and participation during the Guild's many years of existence. Thanks to your dedication, we were able to create a unique community, and largely achieve our goals of inspiring technology in online game worlds. It saddens me to take this step, but the site has been dormant for many months now, and given that fact, I had to make the determinantion to discontinue a service that no one was making use of.

The Technomancers do live on somewhat, however. If you are interested, we still maintain a guild that you can join within the Kingdom of Loathing (just search for Technomancer in the clan district). Also, if you have any other technomancer business you want to discuss, or just want to stay in touch, I am usually available to talk on my usual AIM address (TheNSA1421). You can also often find me on Steam (sn: somedude) and sometimes on the web game Billy vs. Snakeman (sn: ztrauq).

It feels odd to write any sort of epitaph for the Technomancers, as I suppose it is neither dead or alive, but somewhere in between. Perhaps, like an old soldier, it has simply faded to a small footnote, an interesting tangent in gaming history for me and my friends. That being said, though, it was one of the most enjoyable communities I have ever been a part of, and I will always remember it fondly. It weathered both good times and bad, made its way through consensus and conflict, but through it all, it remained a shining example of what an online community could be. Again, thank you so much to everyone who decided to join the Technomancers, and those who have inquired about it and kept in touch even as it slipped into its final period of dormancy. Your friendship means more to me than I can describe. We took an idea, from scratch, and turned it into something greater than I ever could have imagined.

Honestly, I'm going to miss it.

P.S.: The Technomancers RPG world, which used to be called Steel Storm, is still somewhat in development, and should appear here again when it is in a more complete state.

P.P.S.: If you're looking for the AQ stat calculator, despite the fact that it's no longer being updated, you can find it here.
